Tombs of the Nobles – Full-Day

Pick up from hotel and transfer to the high cliffs opposite Aswan, just north of
 Kitchener’s Island. Visit the famous tombs of the governors, the keepers of the Gate of the South, and other dignitaries of ancient Elephantine Island. The tombs, known as the Tombs of the Nobles, are still being excavated and significant finds were made in 2014 and 2017. Six decorated tombs are currently open to the public. The guide's visit will begin at the southern end of the upper level where the most interesting tombs can be seen. These ancient tombs are cut from the natural rock. Tombs of this period show fine examples of hieroglyphic texts detailing the careers of their owners as well as scenes of daily life in the earlier periods.
